Modern message grants for seniors

GRANTS are available for local community groups to teach seniors the benefits of modern-day communication technology such mobile phones and computers.
Telstra Connected Seniors grants range up to $5000 for local community organisations and up to $50,000 for state and territory organisations
Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for Melbourne Metro South East Vicky Allen said the Telstra Connected Seniors workshops enable older Australians to embrace the digital age and enter a new, exciting communication horizon.
Ms Allen said the workshops were conducted by experts in a friendly and comfortable environment where seniors learn specifically tailored skills at their own pace.
Once seniors have mastered the basics at the workshops, they can then revise their skills and learn other communication skills by accessing the online how to guides at www.telstraseniors.com.au.
Ms Allen also said modern day technology can help seniors overcome isolation and increase their self-confidence.
Eligible community organisations can apply for Telstra Connected Seniors grants at www.telstraseniors.com.au until 5pm on 7 May.
Not-for-profit community organisations with a primary member base of people age over 60 are eligible to apply now at www.telstraseniors.com.au.
Organisations that have previously received grants and successfully completed their training can reapply for further Telstra Connected Seniors funding.
