THE Berwick Salvation Army Church is bringing the Commonwealth Games spirit to the Timbarra Estate on Saturday, 11 March, when the church hosts a special family fun day.
Berwick Salvation Army Church minister Craig Exon said the day would help create a sense of excitement in the community and would be a good build-up to the Games.
Mr Exon said there would be basketball competitions, face painting, family trivia, high jumps, clowns, inflatable castles, gymbaroo demonstrations and boxing activities on the day.
He said all the day’s activities would be free and the only thing residents would need to pay for was the sausage sizzle.
Michele’s Patisserie in Parkhill Plaza has donated a special cake for the celebrations and Mr Exon said they were hoping to attract at least 150 people.
“We wanted to promote the games spirit in the area and show people that we are a family church and want to get to know the community better,” Mr Exon said.
The family fun day starts at 10am and finishes at 2pm.
The Berwick Salvation Army Church is at the corner of Parkhill Drive and Ernst Wanke Road.
