Persistent drizzle can’t stop Dady and his team at Lang Lang

The South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group was back on deck this week with a large contingent of players turning up at Lang Lang Bowls Club to fight it out for the weekly challenge.

John, Bev and Vern signed us in while Marianne ensured all our visitors were looked after with hot drinks and biscuits.

Once we were all assigned teams we went out to the green and were welcomed with pesty rain.

Luckily this didn’t last too long so we had a great morning of bowls.

Then after lunch the game was still great fun but with the increase of the wind the greens seemed to fight against our bowls and the temperature seemed to drop to pretty much freezing conditions.

However, there was still lots of fun being had across all the rinks.

There were not a lot of wrong-bias bowls but a few of the “off target” bowls looked somewhat suspect, but on examination were just off target.

As always, we can only have one winner and today’s winners on 37 points were Shirley Corcoran (L), Michael Dady (S) and Robyn Dahl (3).

This week’s runners up on 34 points were Ron Hughes (2), Raff Merante (3), Chris Sharpe (L) and Phil Nielson (S).

Best one-game winners on 19 points were Luke Monckton (3), John Williams (S) and Bob Arnold (L).

A big thank you to Marianne for all her hard work in the bar as well as the kitchen.

Also, thank you to John and Laurie for clearing up outside, as well as Marianne and Colin for all their work in the kitchen and clubroom.

This week we will be meeting up at Loch and District Bowls Club to once again fight it out for players of the week.

Please, be on site by 10am as the numbers are getting quite high and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile till then, have fun and stay safe.
