Refreshed Lions victorious

A rejuvenated and reignited Pakenham comfortably got back on the winner’s list in round 15 of the Outer East Division 1 A Grade Netball competition.

On the road visiting Yarra Junction, the Lions went on the front foot early, taking a 14-8 quarter-time advantage.

Scoring was difficult to come by for both teams in the second frame but Pakenham still managed to narrowly increase the margin.

At halftime, the Lions led 25-15.

A big third term put Pakenham within reach of victory and a strong fourth term guided the visitors to a 52-27 triumph.

Charlize Reid was magnificent, while Caitlin Cooke was stellar in her return to the lineup.

Millicent Utber also contributed significantly in fuelling the Lions to victory.

Seville’s high-powered attack didn’t slow down on Saturday as the Blues rolled Yea 95-36 at the Showgrounds.

Ladder-leader Warburton Millgrove also picked up four premiership points after the Burras handled business away at Alexandra 65-31.

At Belgrave Reserve, the Magpies proved too much for Powelltown, taking victory 66-31.

The top flight of Outer East netball (in round 14) only saw two games for the weekend, with Emerald getting its win streak snapped by table-toppers Mount Evelyn.

The Rovers opened up a 12-goal halftime lead and owned the second half to run out 65-38 victors.

Monbulk jumped back ahead of the Bombers on the ladder after the Hawks dominated Healesville 70-47 at home.

There are some crucial matchups across both competitions for the upcoming weekend, including third-placed Pakenham hosting Yarra Glen in fourth.

In Premier, Emerald looks to hold its top-four spot in a visit to ROC, while third plays fifth when Woori Yallock hosts Monbulk.
