Magnificent Magri and his team Loch up the winning prize

It was another great day for the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group with 43 members of the family turning up to Loch and District Bowls Club for the weekly challenge.

The rugged-up group was welcomed to the club by Vern while Bev and David prepared the teams.

It was a somewhat cold morning but it looked like it would improve over the day.

Once the teams were selected the group headed to the green to once again fight it out for the highly-anticipated Team of the Week.

It wasn’t too long until the sun started to make an appearance and with little to no wind it looked promising for the day.

But, even with the sun out, it was still a cold day for the duration.

As usual we had great players in all teams making it a real challenge as usual there was lots of laughter and a reasonable amount of banter across all the rinks.

The group didn’t see too many wrong-bias bowls today, but the Royal Children’s Hospital tin is still filling up fast.

As always, we can only have one winning team and that team this week on a score of 36 was Peter Taylor (L), Louis Magri (S) and Neil Andreatta (3).

Runners up, close behind on a score of 35, were Robyn Dahl (3), Wayne Stevens (2), Bill Sheriff (L) and Bob Arnold (L).

Best One Game winners on a score of 20 were Tony Heppleston (3), Mark Hanrahan (S), Alan Weeden (L) and Robyn Banks (2).

A big shout out to Trevor for looking after our thirsty bowlers today and also to Alex for his great work cleaning up after the game.

Also thank you to all the ladies who looked after the kitchen…and there are too many to name there.

This Thursday we will be meeting up at Corinella Bowls Club to once again fight it out for players of the week.

Please, be on site by 10am as the numbers are getting quite high and if you are in after the books are full then you may have to miss out.

Meanwhile, until then, have fun and stay safe.
