CASEY Council has requested that a councillor be investigated for allegedly leaking confidential information to a local newspaper in two instances, Cr Sam Aziz told the council last week.
Cr Aziz said he initially raised the complaint in December last year, following a series of leaks to the media.
Last week, Cr Aziz said he was contacted by an officer from the Local Government Investigations and Compliance Inspectorate to speak about the matter, and said other councillors could be approached as well.
He asked CEO Mike Tyler to give councillors the original document which requested the local government inspectorate to investigate two cases of allegedly leaking of confidential information to a Leader newspaper.
Cr Aziz said fellow councillors should receive the documents before they too were asked to speak about the matter.
Last year, in a separate case, an Ombudsman’s investigation found Mayfield Ward’s Cr Kevin Bradford improperly disclosed confidential council tender information to a media outlet.
