Safety push at Fountain Gate

HIGHLY anticipated upgrades are underway at busy intersections along Narre Warren North Road.
The upgrades are part of the Fountain Gate redevelopment.
They will include more right turning lanes, right turning arrows and the replacement of the Overland Drive roundabout with traffic lights.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan welcomed the upgrades and said they meant better traffic flow and safer travel in Narre Warren.
“Everyone who drives down Narre North Rd past Fountain Gate knows how annoying and dangerous the roundabout is at Overland Drive. New traffic lights will mean a safer intersection for motorists,” Mr Donnellan said.
Mr Donnellan said the upgrades at Ryelands Drive, Magid Drive and Overland Drive were initially expected to be completed late last year, but were delayed because of further considerations by VicRoads, the City of Casey and Fountain Gate Shopping Centre.
“Narre residents have been waiting a long time for these much-needed upgrades. The good news is the intersection upgrades are now going ahead, with advertising for the tender to be released in July,” Mr Donnellan said.
“As part of the upgrades, we have successfully campaigned to ensure measures such as right turning arrows are included at Ryelands Drive and it’s great to see there will be an extra right turning lane constructed at Magid Drive.”
Mr Donnellan said he had been informed Westfield Management Ltd were finalising the design of the intersection upgrades which will see local road safety and traffic flow significantly boosted.
