Schooled in Anzac spirit

STUDENTS in Year 9 and 10 across the City of Casey are encouraged to apply for the Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize.
Ten students representing each of the education regions in Victoria will have the opportunity to participate in a two-week study tour during term one of school holidays in 2012.
Students will visit sites of military and cultural significance to Australian servicemen and women through the schools competition.
Parliamentary Secretary for Education Inga Peulich encouraged students to apply.
“The Premier’s Spirit of Anzac Prize inspires young Victorians to explore the ethos the Anzacs displayed at Gallipoli and on the Western Front and to reflect on how those values apply in Victorian communities today,” Ms Peulich said.
“This important initiative has captured the imagination of students eager to learn more about Australia’s service history since its inception in 2004.
“Students will be given the opportunity to see first hand those places where Australian men and women gave their all for future generations.”
All competition entries will be assessed by regional panels before 27 regional finalists are interviewed by a central panel in December.
Entries close on Friday 21 October and entry forms are available on line from www.veterans.vic.gov.au
