Lives are at stake

I LIVE off Parkhill Drive in Berwick and always used to say to my wife how I thought the speed limit along there was to fast considering how built up the area was.
Then in April 2009 a sweet little soul was lost when she was struck by a car along Parkhill Drive and I remember how bad I felt that a beautiful young life had been lost.
Let me also say that I don’t know if speed was a factor in this case at all but eventually the council reduced the speed limit from 80kmh to 60kmh along Parkhill Drive, which is great.
But we continue still get morons speeding along there on a regular basis.
So the reason I’m bringing this to the community’s attention is that for last year and half or so I constantly see a policeman on a motorbike booking people who continue to speed along Parkhill Drive.
I see him stopping cars and I just wanted to say to him and the local police thank you.
I don’t know the young girl who lost her life that day back in 2009 or her family, but I just hope that every time they see the police booking idiots who continue to speed along Parkhill Drive that in some little way it can help them through what must be the hardest loss imaginable. To all those morons who continue to speed along there, just think how you would feel if that was your daughter, little sister, niece or friend that was lost that day.
David Murray,
Berwick.
