CRANBOURNE BOWLS
Home ground advantage counted for heaps on Saturday with Cranbourne’s pennant teams winning both games at home on a warm day where the sun shone all day.
The news was mixed for the two teams that played away, with one having a very minimum loss while the team that travelled to Chelsea were significantly outplayed.
All they can do is practice over the Xmas/New Year break and come back bigger and better.
Playing at home on the front grass green, Cranbourne 1, Div 1 hosted Dandenong 2 Div 1.
The number one team played as a whole group of players who were of one mind and thus, they did.
Best rink was skipped by Chris Hunt with third Lyn Quigg, second Peter Elgar and Lead Billy Gilchrist defeating their opponents by +17 shots, 29-12.
Next was the rink skipped by Jay Tootell, third Shane Jakins, second Stephen Arms and Lead Joe Byrne who won their game by 14 shots.
The teams of Scott Guymer and Gavin Wright both won their game rinks by five shots each.
• Cranbourne 1 Div 1 (103) def Dandenong Club 2 (41) +62 shots and 18 points.
Cranbourne 2 Div 2 travelled to Dandenong Club to take on their third team and it was essentially a good fight with Cranbourne 2 winning three rinks and losing one.
Best rink was skipped by Nick Arnold, with third Dale Henry, second Karen Hickson and Lead Dennis Tomlin who won by 10 shots, 25-15.
The next best rinks were skipped by Neil Drummond and Hans Worsteling who won the rinks by one shot each.
The unfortunate rink was skipped by Phil Nielsen, third Bill Sherriff, second Lois and Lead Vic Butera. The team had difficulty with the quick synthetic and struggled all day; going down by 16 shots…15-31.
• Cranbourne 2 Div 2 (84) def by Dandenong Club 3 (88) -4 shots and 6 points.
Cranbourne 3 Div 4 playing on the front synthetic hosted local neighbour Edithvale 2.
The game went along at a comfortable pace with not much between the two clubs at the lunch break.
Best rink for Cranbourne was skipped by Derek Maguire, third Yvonne Vanderwees, second Kate Sharpe and Lead Bob Pyne.
All players contributed well and eventually they ran out winners by +19 shots.
Next was the team skipped by Dermot McConnell, third John Kent, second Roger Roscoe and Lead John Anstiss won their rink by + 12 shots.
Then the team of Skip Brian Turton, third Jacqui Warner, second Jo Alsop and Lead Jeanne Tomlin won their game 21-19.
The final team of Skip Scott De Piazza, third Louis Magri, second Rob Gye and Lead Olive Stanley had a great encounter with their opponents and only went down by four shots, 17-21.

• Cranbourne 3 Div 4 (95) def Edithvale 2 (66) +29 and 16 points.
Cranbourne 4 Div 5 headed to Chelsea to take on their number one team and it was a game of struggle; except for the team of Skip Neil Fotheringham, third S Bakker, second Peter Margiannis and Lead Theresa Von Oppeln who had a very honourable draw, both teams finishing 19-19.
We had one team that played one player short and gave their all going down by 11 shots, 11-22.
The final two rinks struggled and went down by 22 and 28 shots respectively.
Keep the head up guys, the time will come and we will turn it all around.
