Drilling in water safety

PARENTS are encouraged to pick up a copy of a free water safety DVD before summer begins.
With drowning being the biggest cause of accidental death in children under five in Australia, legendary swimming coach Laurie Lawrence and Holt MP Anthony Byrne are promoting the important Kids Alive Do the Five water safety message.
The five rules of Laurie Lawrence’s Kids Alive Do the Five are fence the pool, shut the gate, teach your kids to swim – it’s great, supervise – watch your mate, and learn how to resuscitate.
Mr Byrne said he encouraged all parents of young children to contact his office and get their hands on a copy of the free water safety DVD.
“This is a great program that literally saves kid’s lives,” Mr Byrne said.
“Now is the perfect time to be making sure our children learn the important Kids Alive do the Five water safety message,.”
Mr Lawrence has done work through the Kids Alive project for almost 25 years.
“Owning a swimming pool is a big responsibility. Pool owners must ensure that their pool is fenced and complies with local government legislation” Mr Lawrence said.
Copies of the DVD can be obtained by calling Anthony Byrne’s Office on 9796 7533 or emailing Anthony@AnthonyByrneMP.com
