A tale for TV

CYSTIC Fibrosis hasn’t stopped Berwick’s Kylie Alford.
In February, she had a double lung transplant and since then she’s been hitting the gym and keeping fit.
But she hasn’t forgotten the team at The Alfred hospital who she credits with saving her life.
On Friday, Kylie picked up a television donated by Sharon and Peter Thomas from Mr Rental in Dandenong.
“The TV will be used for patients from the heart and lung transplant ward who use the gym,” Kylie explained.
Transplant patients have to hit the gym three times a week for three months as part of their rehabilitation.
Equipment and facilities at The Alfred hospital’s gym are lacking.
“The gym gets 200 patients a week. The TV will benefit all of these patients who use the gym,” she said.
The 30-year-old believes that the gym is under-resourced.
She wanted to get the support of a local business and contacted Sharon who was more than willing to help out.
“The TV is fantastic. It will motivate the young and the older patients who use the gym,” she said.
Kylie is encouraging donations to The Alfred Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Victoria and Donate Life.
It’s been a long road to recovery, but Kylie is on track.
“I’m doing really well. My lung capacity is getting better and I’ve had great results,” she said.
