Crackdown on errant drivers – Police and sheriffs will be conducting Operation Care in Narre Warren this month. 47746

SHERIFFS will join Casey Highway Patrol this month in an effort to recover outstanding traffic fines, to ensure only licensed drivers are on the road and their cars are registered.
Operation Care will be conducted in Narre Warren on 14 September. The police operation, which is now in its third year, is a highly visible roadblock style operation, targeting traffic and crime-related offences, including drug trafficking, smuggling of stolen goods, unlicensed and drink drivers and motorists not wearing seatbelts.
Leading Senior Constable John Diamond said the operation allowed police to ensure safety on the roads and allowed sheriffs to execute warrants.
In April, more than $62,000 was recovered and 21 traffic offences detected during the five-hour police operation in Cranbourne and surrounds.
“The sheriffs’ office usually has success recovering thousands of dollars in unpaid fines during the operation,” Leading Sen Const Diamond said.
“Police will be checking for unregistered vehicles and unlicensed drivers as well.”
Leading Sen Const Diamond urged drivers to ensure they do not have outstanding fines and they are obeying the law.
“We want people to be vigilant and careful not to commit and offences,” he said.
“We are always interecepting vehicles to do licence and registration checks, and they should be aware there will be a greater police presence on September 14.”
