Entrenched in this year’s theme for International Women’s Day, the City of Casey will be holding a two-week initiative that aims to ‘Balance the Scale’.
The balancing wall, which will launch on IWD, Sunday 8 March, will invite people all over Casey to share their reflections on how they can help to balance the scale of gender inequality.
The wall will be placed at multiple Connected Library branches across Casey and welcomes an array of expressions from women and girls to write, draw and demonstrate their reflections on societal gender imbalance.
Casey’s Deputy Mayor, Michelle Crowther, said the council is committed to listening to women’s voices.
“The voices, stories, and lived experience of women and girls matter and are central to shaping a fairer, safer, and more equitable community,” Cr Crowther said.
“Everyone has a role to play in `balancing the scales’, and small, practical actions in homes, workplaces, and community spaces can drive meaningful change.
“We are inviting women and girls in our community to share their reflections on how gender inequality shows up in daily life and share their ideas for practical steps we can all take to contribute to a fairer, safer and more equitable community.”
