Two special centenarians

By Danielle Galvin
BIRTHDAY celebrations were plentiful at the View Hills Manor aged care facility this week, with two of the ladies celebrating some particularly special milestones.
Mary Cook turned 100 and Ting Moi Vong turned 104.
The Endeavour Hills birthday ladies celebrated with a morning tea at the aged care facility on Monday 7 November.
Mrs Vong, who migrated to Australia in 1979 from East Timor, is a “real champion”.
“Whatever makes her smile is a good thing,” said grandson Tac Cheung.
The 104-year-old was born on 6 November 1907 and had nine children.
Her grandson said she had been a widow for 64 years.
“She raised everyone on her own,” Mr Cheung said.
“There’s too many grandchildren, heaps. She has great-great grandchildren too.”
Mrs Cook, who grew up in Happy Valley, is a proud great-grandmother who was born on 4 November 1911.
She married in 1947 and had one daughter, Rae.
The ladies celebrated with their families on the weekend.
