Casey greening all over

A GRADUATION ceremony for the participants of the Greening Doveton Project was held at the Old Cheese Factory in Berwick recently.
On 3 November, 12 participants of the program were recognised for their commitment to conservation and land management. Through the program, they did work at a number of locations throughout the City of Casey including Myuna Farm, Doveton Baptist Church, Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Federation Food Garden in Eumemmerring, Essex Park Drive in Endeavour Hills, Wilson Botanic Park and The Old Cheese Factory.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the project was one that council was very proud of.
“Not only has it been a tremendous success for the twelve young graduates, but our community facilities have benefited from lasting improvements as a result of their hard work and skilled labour,” Cr Balmes said.
“Graduating from this program is a wonderful achievement and a credit to the dedication and commitment of the students.
“The future is bright for each of the graduates, with three already securing full-time employment and another soon to start an apprenticeship.”
Funded through the Federal Government’s National Green Jobs Corps initiative, the Greening Doveton Project was delivered though a partnership between the City of Casey, Ma Employment, Murray Mallee Training, Department of Human Services, Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal and Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
