Casey says no

ADULTS who buy alcohol for minors and minors using fake IDs could get slapped with a fine under the Casey Alcohol Accord.
The Casey Alcohol Accord is a voluntary agreement, developed in consultation with local licensed venues and packaged liquor outlets, to promote the responsible service, sale and consumption of alcohol and encourage a high standard of behaviour in the community.
Through the Accord, a poster was created to highlight that police can issue a $732 on-the-spot infringement for persons illegally supplying alcohol to minors and a $244 on-the-spot infringement for a person producing fake identification to purchase alcohol.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said Accord members were focusing their attention on stamping out underage drinking leading up to the Christmas holidays.
“Staff at packaged liquor outlets in Casey are actively monitoring their stores to spot minors asking adults to illegally buy alcohol for them and a local alert system will be developed to notify neighbouring liquor stores of minors attempting to purchase alcohol,” Cr Balmes said.
“With the festive season approaching, council is also reminding residents that due to a recent change in legislation, it is now an offence for adults to supply alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 years in a private resident without parental consent.”
