Police assaulted in drunken brawl

NINE men were arrested after a drunken brawl at Berwick Inn on the weekend.
Police said about 1.45pm on 12 November, 14 police officers and a police dog attended a street near the Berwick Inn were about eight intoxicated men were fighting.
When police attempted to make an arrest, one of the men approached the police officer from behind and assaulted him.
Police foamed one of the men involved.
They also located another man who was passed out near a loading dock behind the pub.
Police charged all nine men, aged between 19 and 22, for being drunk in public.
Two of the men were charged with assaulting a police officer. They will appear in court at a later date.
