LAWN bowls, bean bag hockey and egg and spoon relays were just some of the fun activities students at Hillcrest Christian College enjoyed last Thursday as part of the leadup to this week’s Commonwealth Games.
Grade prep to two students celebrated with their first official Mini Commonwealth Games and even held their own opening ceremony when the Australian National Anthem was performed in Auslan sign language.
The teams then marched proudly behind their country’s banner before taking part in many fun games and activities.
Each team worked together in the hope of winning a gold medal.
During a victory ceremony at the end of the day, students were presented with medals in front of more than 100 children waving ribbon sticks.
The event was run and organised by year 6 students.
Years three to six also celebrated their own Commonwealth ceremonies and games last week.
