AN ENDEAVOUR Hills couple had the perfect start to a new year when their baby girl arrived a week early.
Sara Badri and her partner Aaron Noorzai were the first couple to have a baby at Casey Hospital on 1 January.
The couple did not expect their first baby to arrive until the due date on 8 January, so they decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve with family and friends and arrived home at 2am.
“We watched fireworks and stayed awake until 2am,” Mr Noorzai said.
“At 3am, Sara started having contractions. They were so intense we needed to call the ambulance which took her to Casey Hospital,” he said.
Mr Noorzai praised the paramedics and “beautiful and loving” Casey Hospital staff for their professionalism and for helping the labour run smoothly.
At 9.40am, Sara gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Dunya Marjan Noorzai, who weighed 3.09 kilograms.
“She looked so beautiful- I couldn’t believe she was my kid,” Mr Noorzai said.
“It felt like the whole world was in my hands- that is why we called her Dunya- meaning world.”
Mr Noorzai said baby and mum were doing well and settling into their new life at home.
