Speedy capture for drag racer

A HAMPTON Park P-Plater was clocked driving at almost 200kmh last weekend, sparking a police pursuit along the Princes Highway.
Endeavour Hills police caught the 18-year-old shortly after 2.50am on Saturday after following him from Doveton to Narre Warren.
The driver was apprehended when he stopped at a red light.
Police said the teenager was drag racing another young driver at the time and was detected driving at 190kmh.
Sergeant John Blackburn of Endeavour Hills police said if the youth had not stopped at the traffic light it would have been extremely hard to catch him due to the excessive speed at which he was travelling.
An 18-year old has been charged with dangerous driving and exceeding the speed limit, and will appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Sgt Blackburn said police were still investigating the identity of the other vehicle’s driver.
