Ladies win in style

The Division Five team’s only lady skip, Micki Horton, may have lost her rink but was the hero of the day as hers and her team’s last bowl of the day swung victory the Magpies’ way.
In a dramatic finish to the day the last two rinks came down to the wire. Norm Hosmer’s rink was holding two with only the opposition skip to bowl, he failed to disturb the head giving Hosmer’s rink victory but it then came down to Horton.
Playing the last end the opposition were holding five until Horton split the head. When the dust settled, Horton had reduced the damage to one giving the team a memorable one shot victory after a tense battle all day. Final scores were 77 to 76.
N.Bell, J.Hickman, S.Robinson and skip P.Castricum lost 16/19. M.Rudelic, J.Zanon, J.Sheahan and skip M.Horton lost 11/25. J.Dukats, J.Green, K.Davis and N.Hosmer won 28/12. J.Van Hout, S.Lapham, R.Pigdon and skip F.Fox won 22/20. The Division Three team had another disappointing day, going down by 18 shots at home to Waverley Golf. The team now clings onto fourth place on the ladder by a solitary point.

Division Seven travelled to Hampton Park with a tough assignment to beat the ladder leaders on their synthetic green. Our boys put in a fine performance with a win, a draw and two rinks losing to go down by eight shots overall. It’s been a tough year but the team have done a great job to be so close to the four in their first year after coming up from division eight.
