THE Hampton Park Bowls Club had a pretty good day on Saturday with two wins and a loss and it was the lower teams who led the way with the second and third team scoring solid victories.
The number one team played Cheltenham at home on the upper green and went down by four shots with two winning rinks and two going down. Ian,Ellen, Lionel and Andrew won by four while Rayden, Christine, Geoff and Warwick got up by six. Rico, Mark, Sean and Graham missed by four while Keith, Neville, Jim and Zak went down by 10.
The second side played at the Dandenong Club and ran out convincing winners by 16 shots. Heather, Jeff, Paul and Denise scored a big 22-shot win while Ann, Keith, Ken and Peter went down by one shot on the last end. Vince, Richard, Stan and Larry went down by five with Russell, Len, Rob and Bob holding on to win by one shot.
The third side played on our lower green against Narre Warren and it was a close one, with the Parkers getting up by four shots. Liam, Gail, Bill and Alan went down by 11 shots while the reverse was played by Ian, Brian, Marion and Ray with an 11 shot win. Alex, Gerry, Ray and Fred secured an eight shot win while Rudy, Keith, Allan and Ron got away with a draw.
Australia Day at the club was very successful with 12 players from other clubs joining us. The highlight of the day was the Roulettes air display. They made many low passes over the green with the smoke pouring out of the tails while the players cheered and waved their Aussie flags.
Tuesday Pennant was a successful day for the club with both teams recording victories.
The side that went to Beaumaris battled hard for their 13 shot win with Heather, Jim, Neville and Denise going down by four shots while Geoff, Ann, Andrew and Christine scraped in by two shots. Ian, Marion, Ellen and Bob did the damage with a 15 shot win.
Our other side played Murrumbeena at home, getting over the line by just three shots. Keith, June, Mary and Ray finished with a draw whileAllan, Brian, Gail and Alan went down by three shots. Geri, Grace, Gwen and Ron finished six shots up to give us victory overall.
