Big step for little athletes

THE Narre Warren Little Athletics Club will be sending a team of athletes to Ballam Park in Frankston this weekend for the 2012 Southern Metropolitan Region Track and Field Championships.
The championships are a huge stepping stone for the up and coming stars of the future with progression through these titles resulting in a tilt at the Victorian State Track and Field Championships in Bendigo in March.
Budding athletes from around the region will take part this weekend in what, as usual, will be a high quality meet. The committee and club members wish the athletes well in their chosen events.
Narre Warren little athletes competed in Pentathlon 2 on Saturday morning.
Athletes must compete in all five events set out for their age group to gain maximum points with some pleasing results from many of the club’s athletes.
Under 15 girl Maddison Fenton broke the shot-put record for the second time this season with a put of 10.23m, breaking her earlier record this season of 9.84 set back in November 2011. Fenton improved on her record by 39cm.
This week’s program will be a twilight program on Friday 17 February at the Dandenong Little Athletics Centre.
The program starts at 5.30pm and parents are asked to sign on for their duty as early as possible to ensure that the events can begin on time.
For any further information call Kerry on 9703 2239 or 0412 482 237.
