FIVE young people were lucky to survive after a horror crash in Narre Warren South.
About 2am on Sunday, emergency services were called to Pound Road where a commodore believed to have been driven by a P-plater appeared to have hit a pole, knocked down a tree, flipped and landed on the side of embankment, Narre Warren Fire Brigade Captain Paul Hardy said.
There were five people who had suffered various injuries. Mr Hardy said a fire-fighter took over for a bystander who was performing CPR on the driver.
Mr Hardy said CPR is an important skill to have.
“The driver was resuscitated by a passerby,” Mr Hardy said.
“CPR is a an important skill everyone should know.”
Fire-fighters also had to clean a large petrol leak at the scene.
Ambulance Victoria spokesperson Paul Bentley said there were three advance life support ambulances, an intensive car ambulance and ten paramedics on the scene.
Mr Bentley said a 16-year-old was taken to Dandenong Hospital with back injuries and grazes, an 18-year-old man taken to Dandenong Hospital with chest injuries, a 20-year-old woman was taken to Monash Hospital with minor injuries, 19-year-old woman was taken to Monash Hospital and a fifth person was taken to The Alfred hospital.
Ms Hardy said the occupants were “very lucky” to survive and urged people to drive with care.
