HAWTHORN young gun Jarrad Boumann was at the centre of a nightclub fracas in Melbourne’s CBD in the early hours of Sunday morning, fracturing his hand.
Narre Warren South 22-year-old Boumann told the Hawthorn Football Club he was allegedly kicked repeatedly near the corner of Exhibition and Lonsdale streets at around 2.45am.
Boumann is certain to miss this week due to his hand injury, which he says he sustained in self-defence.
The Hawks released a statement through their official website, which said Boumann was leaving a nightclub with a friend and was looking for a taxi “when a verbal exchange with a group of men escalated.”
“Jarrad acted in self defence after being repeatedly kicked by a number of people while he was on the ground,” the statement read.
A Victoria Police spokesman said two men, an 18-year-old from Pakenham and a 22-year-old from Narre Warren South, were arrested following the alleged assault.
