TWO people are lucky to be alive after a runaway vehicle and trailer smashed through the window of a medical centre last week.
Fire-fighter Keith Pakenham said about 9.15am on 31 October, a driverless Nissan 4WD which was parked at Endeavour Hills Shopping Centre rolled about 350 metres through two car parking bays, knocked over a concrete post, went over a ramp at skate park, crossed the road and smashed through the window of a pathology clinic in Raymond McMahon Boulevard, missing two people inside.
Hallam Fire Brigade Dandenong rescue crews attended the scene.
The Hallam Fire Brigade Senior Station Officer Michael Lia from Hallam Brigade said it was amazing nobody was seriously injured in the incident.
Mr Pakenham said the tradie who owned the vehicle arrived a short time later and was helping police with their investigations.
The Casey shire building surveyor attended the site and assessed the damage. Cribbing was setup by the rescue crews to allow the 4WD to be pulled out. The roadway was blocked by police until the car was removed.
