Dandy champions bowl off

LOCAL RVBA club champions from the City of Greater Dandenong played off for the title of Greater Dandenong Champion of Champions title, hosted this year by Dandenong Club Bowls Club.
Spectators were treated to excellent bowling in cool and cloudy conditions last Sunday week.
In round one Karl Kringe (Keysborough), the defending champion, got the better of Mark Blythman (Dandenong City) 26-13 and Richard Cookson (Dandenong RSL/Recreation) went down to Keith Ronaldson (Burden Park) 19-26.
The semi-finals produced fine bowling with Michael Ryan (Willow Lodge) being unfortunate to go down 7-25 to an in-form Keith Ronaldson.
Kringe fell a bit behind in the other semi-final but fought back to beat Paul Peterson (Noble Park) 16-25.
In the final, an exhibition of fine draw bowling had the lead swinging from one to the other and on end 25 the scores were 20-all.
Ronaldson produced some magical shots to take the title 25-20 in an excellent final played in a most sporting manner.
Club vice-president John Panter thanked Leo McHugh for managing the event and Lindsay Cameron for umpiring.
The mayor of Greater Dandenong Cr Peter Brown presented trophies to the winner and runner-up and small mementoes to all participants.
