Students help other kids

DOVETON Heights Primary School students dug deep last week to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Assistant principal Jason Walker said the Junior School Council had been very busy last Thursday as members calculated all the donations.
Mr Walker said in a slight change from past ventures, this year all coins collected from students were placed in the shape of ‘RCH 2006’ (Royal Children’s Hospital), complete with a smiley face.
He thanked teachers Jocinda Weinrich and Kaye Smith and the junior school councillors for their hard work and said the school had raised almost $500 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Mr Walker said as well as the coin drive contributions of $180, another $180 had been raised through the sale of Wellby keyrings and pens.
The parents of the Fundraising Committee have also pledged another $100 towards the Royal Children’s Hospital through Easter Raffle ticket sales.
