CASEY mayor Kevin Bradford has encouraged residents to take part in community activities to commemorate Anzac Day on Tuesday, 25 April.
Cr Bradford said Anzac Day marked a milestone in Australia’s history as it was the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzac) forces during the WWI.
“This day of remembrance recognises the sacrifices that those soldiers made, as well as commemorating the efforts of all service personnel who have served Australia in conflicts since.
“Commemorative services will be held across Casey and I encourage all residents to attend one near them and honour the courage and spirit of our Anzacs and other servicemen and women,” he said.
Cranbourne RSL president Barry Jones encouraged residents to take part in Anzac Day celebrations.
He said a highlight of the march would be the inclusion of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club for the first time.
“We will have the horses up front and the bikes at the back, which will be something different,” he said.
Residents have also been encouraged to purchase the City of Casey’s Avenues of Honour book, which commemorates the contribution and sacrifices made by local volunteers in WWI.

10.30am Service at Cenotaph located at Clydesdale Square, High Street, Cranbourne.
11am Service at Cenotaph High Street, Berwick (assemble for march at 10.50am at RSL Clubrooms, Langmore Lane).
