CASEY will look at establishing a ‘wall of acclaim’ devoted to local identities and heroes.
The idea came after councillors saw a similar wall near the performing arts centre at the Logan City Council in Queensland.
The motion, brought before the council on Tuesday by Springfield Ward councillor Lorraine Wreford, called for council officers to investigate the feasibility of establishing one or two walls in the community.
“We are trying to build a bit of history, culture, interest, and some pride in our community,” Cr Wreford said.
“The beauty of this is it is outdoors. Anyone can see it any time.”
Locations considered for the walls are the Narre Warren Civic Precinct and Casey Fields.
River Gum Ward councillor Janet Halsall said the walls of acclaim were a great idea, and were one way of acknowledging people of importance in the area.
