Safety turns the corner

NARRE Warren South MP Dale Wilson has announced $97,000 in funding to improve road safety and traffic conditions at two intersections in Casey.
The works will involve the upgrade of traffic signals to incorporate a right-turn arrow to the light sequence at both the intersection of the Monash Freeway and Clyde Road, Berwick, at a cost of $33,000 and the corner of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Littlecroft Avenue, Narre Warren South, costing $64,000.
The road improvement projects form part of the Victorian Government’s $240 million Arrive Alive safer roads program funded by the Transport Accident Commission.
Mr Wilson said the funding aimed to reduce the incidence and severity of intersection crashes and the terrible consequences they can bring to families, friends and crash victims.
“These two intersections have experienced a total of 14 casualty crashes over the past five years, including two serious crashes.
“With the Safer Roads Program focusing on crashes at busy Melbourne locations, these two intersections came under notice,” Mr Wilson said.
Casey councillor Michael Farley welcomed the new funding and said the installation of fully controlled right turns at these intersections would provide safer conditions for motorists.
