Casey Fields a haven for Scorpions

CASEY Scorpions continued its unbeaten streak at its new Casey Fields home ground with a comfortable 32-point win over VFL top four contender Williamstown on Sunday.
The Scorpions were looking to consolidate their spot in the eight after a good win against the Northern Bullants last week and again rose to the occasion.
After sluggish starts in previous weeks, it was the Scorpions that bolted out of the blocks with the first six goals of the match in the opening quarter.
Allan Murray was impressive early and together with Steve Harrison, David Biagi and Mark McGough, the home side worked its way on top of the Seagulls with a continued attack on the football.
This created a winning break as the Scorpions continued their attack and scored 6.3 to 0.3 to lead the match by a commanding 36 points at the first change.
Michael Rix was outstanding in the ruck contests, and gave his on-ballers plenty of opportunities, while Aaron Fiora, Dylan Phitzber and Allan Murray kept the scoreboard turning over.
Ben Cosgriff, Ben Heenan and Danny Rigg were strong in defence and the Scorpions were able to hold the Seagulls at bay for most of the day.
Scorpions captain Steve Harrison led from the front with 31 possessions (14 kicks, 17 handballs, 8 marks and 5 tackles) and was supported by the in-form David Biagi with 21 possessions (16 kicks and 5 handballs) and Kyle Matthews with 19 touches (13 kicks, 6 handballs and 3 tackles).
Williamstown was an important scalp for the Casey Scorpions with the side remaining undefeated at the ground they have nicknamed the ‘Field of Dreams’
Score: Casey Scorpions 6.3 8.3 12.6 14.14 (98) d Williamstown 0.3 2.7 6.10 9.12 (66).
Goals (Scorpions): A. Murray 3, A. Fiora 2, D. Pfitzner 2, N. Carmody, B. Heenan, M. McGough, M. Ferguson, D. Biagi, M. Bruin, K. Matthews.
Best: M. McGough, A. Fiora, D. Rigg, K. Matthews, M. Rix, B. Cosgriff.
The Scorpions next challenge is against Werribee at Reid Oval in Warrnambool on Saturday 27 May, starting at 1pm.
