Cake for senior girl

THE Doveton Senior Citizens came together last Wednesday to celebrate the birthday of club secretary Doreen Parton.
The 82-year-old has been cooking up a storm at the centre for the past two decades helping make soups and sweets every week.
Last Wednesday, fellow senior citizen member Carmen Nicholls baked a delicious cake for the 50 people in attendance and Mrs Parton’s husband, Ray, said everyone had a great time.
Mr Parton has been president of the club for the past 18 years and said it was nice to see his wife being recognised.
Despite the birthday celebrations, Mrs Parton could not dragged out of the kitchen and still helped prepare lunch for the hungry crowd.
She also received many lovely gifts from friends in attendance.
