Thanks for dedication

COMMUNITY volunteers and local police members were among the people honoured recently when a thanksgiving service was held in Hampton Park.
Hosted by the Casey Life Assembly of God, the Sunday morning service also honoured members of the St John Ambulance and the SES.
The event coincided with the National Day of Thanksgiving, which has been endorsed by the Governor-General, Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
The day is held each year to provide opportunity for Australians to celebrate and give thanks and to demonstrate the values of honour, respect and gratitude towards fellow community members.
This year’s Thanksgiving Day focused on carers, volunteers and those in the police forces, ambulance and fire services, State Emergency Service and Australian Defence Force who assist in times of difficulty and disaster.
Each of the services represented was presented with an award in acknowledgment of service to the City of Casey and in particular the people of Hampton Park.
Pastor Graham Shand said the event was a day to pause as a nation and say thank you to God and to each other for much we often take for granted but which really made lives worth living.
“Let us use this day to be a blessing to those who have been a blessing to us during the past year,” he said.
