OK to revised Spring Square plan

PARTS of the controversial Spring Square development in Hallam will go ahead after Casey Council decided to endorse the revised concept plan.
A new preschool at Gunns Road and a Bi Lo supermarket are among plans for the redevelopment of the neighbourhood centre.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith said the design and layout of the development had changed from what was originally planned. “Not all people thought that there should be a Bi Lo,” Cr Smith said.
“The (Hallam Community) Action Group are not going to be 100 per cent happy but we have certainly taken on board some of their concerns.”
Council officers will now also begin looking at improving traffic hazards in Princes Domain Drive and Alexander Street.
