Women invited to defend themselves

WOMEN of all ages have been urged to attend a free self-defence workshop in Hallam.
On Monday night, accredited instructor Tricia Clarke will run the class at the Hallam Community Centre.
The event has been organised by the Hallam Community Action Group and Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan.
Group member and Hallam resident Ann Benning has urged local women to attend.
“Unfortunately in today’s society women need to be able to fend for themselves as they can become a target. “Lots of ladies walk on their own in Hallam and there are a number of elderly women in the area.
“These classes are really invaluable and you take away a lot of knowledge and become more aware of what is going on around you,” she said.
The classes run from 7pm to 9pm at Mapleson House-Hallam Community Centre, 56 Kays Avenue, Hallam.
For bookings contact Luke Donnellan’s office, phone 9706 0566
