Williams an Ice princess

BASKETBALL Victoria has named Cranbourne’s Briallen Williams as Princess of the Court for July. Williams, 14, is the youngest player in the Cranbourne Ice under-16 girls team, which participates in the Victorian Junior Basketball League.
The year nine St Peter’s College student started playing eight years ago after following her parents and older brothers into the sport.
“We nominated Briallen for the award in recognition of her teamwork and positive attitude,” said Leeza Simpson of Cranbourne Ice Basketball.
“She always gives 100 per cent and has the respect of both players and coaching staff.”
The Princess of the Court award is an initiative of Basketball Victoria’s women in basketball program. Supported by the State Government, the program aims to increase women’s participation in all aspects of the sport of basketball. Basketball Victoria selects winners based on performance and other qualities that make them an asset to the sport.
Briallen will be presented with a $50 voucher for sports apparel and equipment and a certificate.
