13-year-old girl charged after high-speed police pursuit

A 13-YEAR-old female driver evaded Narre Warren police in a high-speed pursuit through local streets last week.
Police officers attempted to intercept the young girl after the car she was driving, a green 2002 Ford Falcon, appeared as stolen on their vehicle database.
The chase was initiated by Pakenham police about 2.45pm on Tuesday but was abandoned due to safety concerns after only a few minutes. The girl continued her journey before Narre Warren police took up the pursuit, again calling it off due to safety reasons.
The girl’s escapades came to an end when she was involved in an accident in Cheltenham and was apprehended by police there.
Cheltenham police said the girl would appear before the Children’s Court charged with stealing a vehicle and several other traffic offences.
