FOUR Fountain Gate Primary School students are moving and shaking their way to the top of the sport aerobics tree.
The students from grade two and three are heading to Sydney to represent their school and state in the AeroSkools National Championships next month.
The Little Gators team, comprising Sowmiya Sathiyaseelan, 8, Gumna Perera, 8, Irene Jong, 8 and Natalie Wickens, 7, won through to the national event after impressing judges at the state titles.
The girls defeated 42 other teams to finish in first place and school sport aerobic coach Fiona Landrigan said the students had spent many of their lunchtimes training and perfecting their routines.
“The girls have demonstrated great enthusiasm, dedication and persistence and I am extremely proud of all the girls’ effort and achievement,” Ms Landrigan said.
Four grade five students also took part in the Victorian titles and represented the Narre Warren school with pride.
The Gator Girls, Abbi Sathiyaseelan, 10, Rebecca Thao, 10, Vanessa Civpici, 11, and Deanna Vasiljevic, 11, competed in the intermediate section and did themselves proud by finishing in 18th place at the state level event.
“It gives me great self satisfaction to see the girls having so much fun while keeping fit and healthy,” Ms Landrigan said.
