Hallam hotel of the year

THE Hallam Taverner Hotel won the National Taverner Award for Best Venue 2005 at a recent awards ceremony at the Atlantic on South Wharf, South Melbourne.
Deanne Bleareu was also named the apprentice chef of the year.
Venue manager Tania Dyer said the hotel had been judged on everything from presentation and cleanliness to customer service and staff training.
“I have only been venue manager for 12 months so to receive this award was just amazing,” she said.
“I could not have done this without our staff everyone here is just so loyal and dedicated.
“It is just another honour within itself for Deanne to also be named apprentice chef of the year,” she said.
The Hallam Hotel beat off the other 32 Taverner venues to win the award.
Ms Dyer said her staff had now been spurred on by the award and had already set their sights on next year.
She also said that the venue had many more exciting times ahead.
“The main bar at the Hallam is currently being renovated and will be completed with plasma screens, an allnew bar and lighting.
“This room will also be the new function room available for private functions on Friday and Saturday nights,” she said.
