A VIBRANT mural created by local art students is now a welcoming card to all visitors to Endeavour Hills’ Frog Hollow reserve.
Berwick Secondary College students created the mural and City of Casey mayor Kevin Bradford congratulated the young artists on their artwork, which depicts elements of the reserve.
“This mural highlights how talented and creative our young people are and how their interest in the environment will help teach others in the community,” Cr Bradford said.
Art teacher and environmental coordinator Lisa Benn, who is also the 2006 City of Casey Non-Resident of the Year, led the project which involved students from the Berwick Secondary College 2005 year 10 art class.
Cr Bradford said the project was funded by the City of Casey Conservation Initiative Grant of $350.
The money was used to purchase the materials as well as pay for bus hire so the students could visit Frog Hollow and research the reserve and select key images to illustrate.
“I am grateful to Lisa Benn for her continued dedication to Casey’s environment and for the efforts of the students involved in this fantastic mural and I encourage them to share their learning with their peers and others.
“I would also like to recognise the Friends of Frog Hollow and Melbourne Water for supporting the project,” Cr Bradford said.
The new mural and notice board is opposite the boardwalk at Frog Hollow Reserve, located adjacent to David Collins Drive, Endeavour Hills.
