FOLLOWING the runaway success of the inaugural 2005 Doveton Show Day, the event is back again this year, bigger and better.
Local residents have been urged to mark Sunday 24 September in their diary and bring the kids along for a fun day at Myuna Farm.
Organised again this year by the Doveton and Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal Events Committee, this fun-filled day of rides and activities for the whole family will showcase what the Doveton and Eumemmerring community has to offer.
This year the show will have the VicPolice Show Band and Bunjil Aboriginal Dance Group performing on the main stage, followed by a range of talented local performers.
Dingo Des, the show’s mascot, will be back, as will the very popular art, craft and cake decorating competitions.
There will also be heaps of rides, amusements and fun activities for children including Bunnings and indigenous painting workshops.
New this year is the Sports Paddock. Organised by City of Casey’s MetroActive initiative, the Sports Paddock will feature a range of fun sporting demonstrations and activities including tai chi, netball, baton twirling and lots more.
The Scouts will be setting up camp, and making damper and billy tea, as well as having a rock wall for people to set themselves a challenge.
There will be plenty of stalls to browse through at the pavilion as well, food to choose from and feature displays such as vintage cars and historical engines to enjoy.
The fun starts at 11am until 4pm at Myuna Farm, 182 Kidds Rd, Doveton. Entry is by optional gold coin donation.
The events committee is recruiting volunteers for on the day. Interested community members are encouraged to contact Neighbourhood Renewal on 9791 4760.
