TRAFFIC signals will be built at the busy intersection of Clyde Road and Enterprise Avenue in Berwick following a $2 million State Government announcement.
Transport Minister Peter Batchelor visited Berwick on Monday where he made the announcement alongside Gembrook MP Tammy Labato and Narre Warren South Labor candidate Judith Graley.
Mr Batchelor said the project, which forms part of the State Government’s Meeting Our Transport Challenges plan, would deliver long-term transport and safety benefits to the community.
He said the improvements of Melbourne’s arterial roads, such as the Clyde Road intersection, would also cut travel times for motorists and open up vital development opportunities.
Narre Warren South MP Dale Wilson did not attend the announcement but still welcomed the news.
He said the funding announcement was the culmination of a lot of hard work by the local members of parliament and the community.
“Delays experienced by traffic at this intersection lead to frustration by drivers, and in turn often leads to reduced safety. These traffic lights will ensure that all traffic gets a fair go, and that safety will be improved,” Mr Wilson said.
