STATE Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu jumped behind the wheel of a prime mover this week when he visited one of Casey’s major employers.
Accompanied by Narre Warren South Liberal candidate Michael Shepherdson, Narre Warren North candidate Mick Morland and other Liberal Party members, Mr Baillieu met with management and staff at the Hallam Truck Centre.
There, Mr Baillieu was given a tour of the facilities by general manager, Ron Gysberts.
Mr Shepherdson said the Hallam Truck Centre was one of the city’s major employers and had recently expanded its premises making it one of the largest trucking dealerships in the metropolitan area.
Mr Baillieu took the opportunity to speak to management and staff about the Liberal Party’s newly released industry policy.
During the day he also met with centre managers from the Narre Warren Learning and Community Centre, Oakgrove Community Centre and Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre.
“Mr Baillieu has visited the Casey area on a number of occasions since becoming leader of the Liberal Party and this just shows the Liberals’ commitment to the area,” Mr Shepherdson said.
Mr Baillieu announced the Liberal Party policy for Neighbourhood Houses and Learning Centres, which includes $14 million over four years and funding for an additional 2740 hours of activities per week.
“So much is needed here to keep up with the growth demands and the Casey team of Liberals are committed to fighting for it,” Mr Shepherdson said.
