Internet meeting turns sour

A BERWICK woman suffered stab wounds to the neck last week when an internet dalliance allegedly turned ugly.
Police said the woman met a man about 3am on Tuesday 26 September in a Pakenham car park, before they both went back to her Pioneer Court home.
Detective Sergeant Garry Kear said the 37-year-old woman had met the man over the internet and this was the first time they had met in person.
Det Sgt Kear said an altercation took place shortly after the pair returned to the woman’s home about 7am.
He said the woman was taken to Dandenong Hospital following the incident, suffering stab wounds to the neck, several lacerations to her body and injuries to her jaw.
Det Sgt Kear said the women’s car was taken after the incident and recovered in Glen Waverley on Sunday night.
He said the woman was in a stable condition and police have since interviewed a 29-year-old Pakenham man in relation to the incident.
Det Sgt Kear encouraged any witnesses who might have seen the Green Subaru sedan leaving the Pioneer Court home, or any other activity around the home on Tuesday morning to contact Narre Warren CIU on 9705 3111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Det Sgt Kear encouraged people who met others on the internet to try and verify their details before meeting them in person.
He also encouraged people to meet in public places and in daylight hours when other people were around.
