Measured loss for Cranny

CRANBOURNE Bowls Club suffered the disappointment of losing by one shot in a measure to Blackburn in RVBA pennant bowls on Saturday.
Needing two shots to draw on the last end played, Cranbourne skip Brian Gay knew he had one shot, but was unable to move the second shot to win or draw the match.
With the match ended, the measure indicated only one shot to Cranny and the loss of the match.
The match was close throughout, but Cranbourne led for the most part and should have sealed the result, but for lapses after establishing a good break.
The only rink success was the team of L. Quigg with a six-shot win.
Score: Cranbourne 94 lost to Blackburn 95. L. Quigg 32-26, B. Gay 25-27, I. Barrenger 19-21, A. Mickle 18-21.
Cranbourne (2) continued its good form with a 12-shot overall win from Waverley Golf, winning three rinks in a solid performance.
Good winners were the team of Peter DeLisle with a 10-shot break.
Score: Cranbourne 96 d Waverley Golf 84. P. DeLisle 28-18, S. Burnett 24-17, P. Colthup 26-24, T. Bonney 18-25.
Cranbourne (3) was beaten in a nailbiting finish by Clayton that made the most of its breaks to win by five shots overall.
The rink of Dick St Ruth was the only winner with a 14-shot margin. The team played well to finish strongly.
Score: Cranbourne 95 lost to Clayton 100. R. St Ruth 30-16, P. Bibby 19-23, A. Dennis 24-31, M. Eames 22-30.
Cranbourne (4) made it two out of two to remain undefeated, with a 22-shot win over Narre Warren.
Cranbourne lost two rinks, but big wins on the rinks of John MacInnes and Ian Badger ensured victory overall. MacInnes’s team won the weekly club award.
Score: Cranbourne 105 d Narre Warren 83. J. MacInnes 32-11, I. Badger 32-19, K. Davies 18-24, R. Sorensen 23-29.
Cranbourne (5) was outbowled at Edithvale when beaten comfortably by 28 shots.
The side lost all four rinks and couldn’t adapt to the Edithvale green.
Score: Cranbourne 74 lost to Edithvale 102. J. Kenter 17-21, L. Paterson 20-25, R. Riddle 19-31, A. Woodman 18-25.
Cranbourne (6) finished very strongly to overcome a determined Willow Lodge side at Cranbourne.
Cranbourne won the match by 34 shots overall and won all four rinks in a very good performance.
The team of Trevor Robinson again starred with a 17-shot win.
Score: Cranbourne 102 d Willow Lodge 68. T. Robinson 32-15, K. Morrison 29-17, D. Noble 21-18, J. Potts 20-18.

Cranbourne (1) side met a very good Dandenong Club and although it competed well, couldn’t match them and were beaten by 21 shots.
Score: Cranbourne 76 lost to Dandenong Club 97. S. Venville 20-23, T. Lennon 22-23, B. Helle 14-27, I. Smith 20-24.
Cranbourne (2) side continued its good form with a 36-shot win over Edithvale.
Cranbourne won all four rinks in an excellent team performance with the team of Kath Dudink dominating for a 21-shot win.
Cranbourne (3) won a cliffhanger against Burden Park by two shots, with both winning a rink each.
Score: Cranbourne 45 d Burden Park 43. C. Wright 32-17, L. Meagher 13-26.
Ladies Saturday pennant competition is now underway with Cranbourne winning its second match at Black Rock against Frankston RSL by 19 shots.
Score: Cranbourne 60 d Frankston RSL 41. E. Woodman 38-17, B. Taylor 22-24.
