Artists hope for festive cheer

LOCAL artists are hoping an exhibition in the lead up to the festive season will result in their work being placed under the Christmas tree.
The Art of Giving – The Giving of Art is taking place at the Libran Dogma Gallery in Narre Warren North and is set to showcase several unique pieces available for purchase.
Artist Vivian Lee said she was inspired to help coordinate the exhibition in an effort to further showcase the work of Casey artists.
“The idea is to have beautiful, affordable pieces of original artwork, which will be priced at under $100, for gift giving,” Ms Lee said.
Original prints, photographs and handmade cards will all be on display and available for purchase.
Ms Lee has teamed up with known artist Di Lockwood to bring together the exhibition in the lead-up to Christmas.
“This will be my first exhibition and hopefully first of many. It will show how accessible art can be for people in the local community and how you can do anything you set your mind to.
“There are about 10 artists involved, including known local names Jennifer Koch, JG Nieuwenhos, Lucy Jones and Di Lockwood. There are also first timers such as myself,” Ms Lee said.
The Libran Dogma Gallery will be open from 11am to 4pm Friday to Sunday at 62 A’Beckett Road, Narre Warren North.
