Two men injured in head-on smash

TWO men suffered serious injuries in a head on collision in Narre Warren South yesterday (Wednesday).
Police said the collision, between a black Mazda 6 sedan and a white van, occurred about 7.15am on Pound Road near the corner of Lake View Drive.
Both men were trapped in their vehicles for about an hour before CFA and SES crews were able to free them.
The driver of the Mazda was transported by air ambulance to The Alfred hospital where he is in a serious condition.
The other man was also taken to The Alfred by road ambulance and is in a stable condition.
Narre Warren TMU Acting Sergeant Allen Inderwisch said attempts to clear the scene were hampered by a burst fuel tank on the van.
“As the van was being put on the tow-truck the fuel tank ruptured. This delayed the clean-up of the scene,” Act Sgt Inderwisch said.
He said police were continuing their investigations into the collision and urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Narre Warren Police on 9705 3111.
