Success for Narre Warren

WITH Narre Warren’s turf one and turf three games drawn because of rain, it was left to A-grade to register a good win against Hallam in round eight, day two on Saturday.

Cranbourne, resuming at 4/101 chasing 144, saw three quick wickets lost to be 7/107 until a solid run partnership between Peter Vassiliou (21) and Steve Vannette (18) passed Hallam’s total.
Brendan Jarman made a well-compiled 20 before Narre Warren was bowled out for 194.

Playing Springvale South away, Narre Warren lost the toss and bowled the opposition out for 107.
Gareth Rees picked up four wickets in his first game for D-grade, Leigh Andrews and Regan Welburn two wickets each and Glen Landry and Mathew Brew picked up the last two.
Narre Warren then batted, hitting up a quick 7/211 before declaring.
Best of the bats were Frank Welburn 66 and Andrews 31.
Bowling again trying to achieve an outright, the opposition batted well denying outright points.
At the close of play Springvale South was 3/192 with James Camilleri taking two wickets and Brew picking up the other one.

Hosting Silverton, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bowl.
After 18 overs, the team had done well restricting the opposition to 68 with some tight bowling from Michael Sigaras.
Silverton, however, ended up making 215 from its 36 overs.
Best of the bowlers Sigaras 0/24 off 8 and Shane Johnston 5/30 from 7 overs.
Narre Warren struggled with the batting and was bowled out in the 34th over for 119.
Best of the bats were Greg Sealby 31, Sigaras 17 and Braden King 12.
The club thanked Michael Teeuw and Jarryd Leeworthy for subbing in the field as Narre was three players short.

Narre Warren was chasing Sandown Parks 235 and finished the day 6/241 with John Easton starring with the bat for 55, Craig Mentiplay 54 not out, Dave Orchard 31 and Rob Brew 25 the main contributors.
A good win for Cranbourne.

Narre Warren played Narre North in a one-day game.
Bowling first, Narre Warren dropped some catches early, but after a blast from the coach lifted its game, dismissing Narre North for 74.
James Geirtz in his first game in division one took 4/22 off six overs, Matthew Clarke 2/4 and Nathan King 2/10 were the best of the bowlers.
Matt Darvell took four catches in a brilliant fielding effort.
The team’s run chase did not start well with Narre Warren losing three quick wickets to be in trouble at 3/13, but Trent Anderson and Matt Harding steered the team home with a great 73-run partnership to finish 3/86 off 22 overs.
Trent Anderson 23 not out and Matt Harding 47 not out.

Playing Springvale South, Narre Warren batted first, making 5/86.
Best of the bats, John Mentiplay (34) being run out on the last ball.
Springvale South did make the runs, but Narre Warren put in a great effort in the field.
Best of the bowlers was Mentiplay 2/13 off four overs.

Hallam won the toss sending Narre Warren into bat.
The openers got off to a flying start to be 0/52 in only the fifth over with Dylan Quirk 26 not out retiring in the fourth over.
Continuing to bat well, Jarryd Straker 26 not out and Ben Carter 27 not out also retired with the team 0/126 in the 14th over.
After losing its first wicket in the 15th over at 128 runs, Narre Warren continued on to be 4/161 at c.c. Also performing well with the bat was Brett Healey 10 not out, Braden King 16 and Jack Speckley 9.
The bowling and fielding was excellent from the start, having the opposition 3/29 after eight overs.
Hallam was bowled out in 19 overs for 87 runs.
Best of the bowlers Healey (2/2), Nicholas Shirt (2/11), Jayden Arter (1/3), Spreckley (1/15) and Quirk (1/12).

Narre Warren playing North Dandenong, lost the toss and was sent into bat.
A slow start had Narre with only 40 runs on the board after 10 overs with the pressure for runs mounting.
The next 10 overs improved the run rate with David Santalucia 27 not out and Jordan Muzzolini 26 not out pushed the score to 113.
Unfortunately the team could not stem the opposition’s batting and lost the game in the last over.

Narre Warren hosted Berwick at Hillcrest.
After 20 overs Narre Warren was 4/73. Best of the bats were Lachlan Shaw 26 not out and Zach Allen 23 not out.
The team bowled and fielded tightly to restrict Berwick to 4/75 off its 20 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Callum Spencer (1/ 2), Shaw (1/7) and Joshua Yong (1/ 4) with Lachlan Shaw also taking two catches.
